Yellowjackets star reveals ‘intense’ body shaming while filming Coyote Ugly

Melanie Lynskey, who plays Shauna on HBO’s Yellowjackets, says she was under constant fire for her weight on the set of Coyote Ugly.

Melanie Lynskey, who plays Shauna on Showtime yellow jacketsrevealed that she and other cast members were criticized for their weight in David McNally’s 2000 film ugly coyote.

In an interview with People, the actor recalled “All the girls had this diet they had to follow. It was ridiculous.” She went into more detail about how she and the cast tried to live up to the film’s creative team standards. “I was already starving and as skinny as possible for this body, and I was still a [size] four,” Lynskey said.

Lynskey added that the body shaming came from all sides of the production. “There were already people who put a lot of Spanx on me in wardrobe fittings and were very disappointed when they saw me, the costume designer saying, ‘No one told me there would be girls like you. Really intense comments about my physique, my body, people doing my makeup and saying, “I’m going to help you out by giving you a little more jawline and stuff.” Lynskey previously said she had a history of eating disorders, which caused her hair loss.

The actor added that ugly coyote was not the last time she suffered this kind of body-shaming, explaining that the production team of yellow jackets suggested that she get a personal trainer. Despite her experiences on the show, Lynskey is reportedly back for a second season – though no concrete details have yet been confirmed about new episodes.

Lynskey’s experience is not unique to Hollywood. underworld Actress Kate Beckinsale said she had an unsavory experience with Michael Bay in the 2001 film Pearl Harbor. The actor claims the director clashed with her, saying she “wasn’t blonde and my boobs weren’t bigger than my head, I didn’t make sense to him as a woman”.

Lynskey’s acting career took off in 1994 when she starred opposite Kate Winslet in the film celestial creatures, which follows two teenage girls with a unique bond. She has since appeared in films like But I’m a cheerleader, Sweet Home Alabama, Charlie’s world and Don’t look up. Her most recent role is Betty Gore in the Hulu series Candywhich tells the story of a real murder.

Season 1 of yellow jacketswhich follows a high school football team struggling to survive after their plane crashes in the woods, is currently available to stream on Showtime.
