Why virtual avatars are about to be the new trendsetters

Why virtual avatars are about to be the new trendsetters

And already, IRL and virtual fashion experiences are merging seamlessly. Last week, Decentraland celebrated its first Metaverse Fashion Week, alongside designers like Giuseppe Zanotti, Elie Saab and Tommy Hilfiger, as well as digital first brands like Auroboros. And just like a real fashion week, street style mattered as much as the runways: virtual avatars were dressed in Decentraland’s range of accessories and apparel, modeling their real-life counterparts. Although the tech may not be able to mimic a street style experience (with photographers and cars honking their horns waiting for influencers to step aside) Againit’s easy to see how strolling through the Platform’s Fashion District — a designated area in the metaverse built for the event — might inspire people to want to dress the part.
