From oversized sunglasses to interesting jewelry choices, street style at London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2022 was all about making a statement.
Coming out of lockdown, editors, buyers and style influencers showed up at physical shows to support local brands like KNWLS and Nensi Dojaka. Despite a condensed schedule this season, attendees showed their excitement for the event by dressing up in expressive outfits and over-the-top accessories. A Vivienne Westwood denim bustier and matching jeans, both adorned with a paint print, were paired with ski sunglasses. Equally eye-catching, a Marine Serre patchwork sweater was accessorized with silver chains and a small Telfar tote. The perfect look for transition time, a shearling-trimmed coat has been styled with flared pants and notched soles.
Other fashion eye candy came in the form of a Prada terry bucket hat, popular Bottega Veneta Original sunglasses and Y2K-inspired kitsch bead jewelry. Bottega’s hand, from the Pouch clutch to the Mini Jodie, continued to be fashion favorites, while in footwear, Amina Muaddi’s pumps and Nodaleto’s chunky heeled boots seemed to have revived interest in going out shoes.
Celebrity sightings at LFW also offered plenty of inspiration. Dressed to impress, Kehlani, musician and now globetrotting A-list star, replaced the London talent Robert Wun in an elegant black leather ensemble – a hooded bolero and a pleated dress – from the brand Fall/Winter 2021 “Armor” Collection. Kelsey Lu and Alexa Chung both wore looks from Simone Rocha’s FW21 collection – the former in a puffy dress and platform boots, and the latter in a peach floral dress layered under a cropped leather top with puff sleeves.
