Ryan Reynolds finally ditched the navy uniform for pink

Ryan Reynolds has it all figured out when it comes to “secret casual dress.” What he does with his clothes is direct and simple – almost too Easy. It’s good. Normal, even. The kind of outfit you would wear to meet your in-laws. But that means that when, on rare occasions, the actor steps out of their comfort zone, the world (or maybe just us on the QG style team) opinion.

So you can imagine our surprise and delight when the dead Pool the actor ditched the navy chinos, navy jacket, navy t-shirt and everything else navy in favor of something a little more on-trend. And by that, we mean a color at the featherier, fluffier end of the color spectrum: pink. Or what Pantone called “Candy Pink”.

Ahead of his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show last night, Reynolds stepped out in a marshmallow-colored quilted shirt in a sawtooth pattern by New York brand Bode. It is a popular brand for renewing old things. In fact, the shirt Reynolds wears is inspired by an 1850s quilt and repurposes old Indian factory fabrics. Boxy cut, the actor chose to wear it over a form-fitting white cardigan and accessorized it with honeyed acetate frames and a kitschy, pick n mix rainbow pearl bracelet. A subtle touch, sure, but a jump for Reynolds who normally only wears a Piaget wristwatch for arm candy.

Did the actor take style notes in Hollywood other Ryan Gosling)? Who’s been thinking pink on the red carpet lately as he gears up for next year Barbie film? Who knows, but it’s a look we can get behind. Plus, it’s right on trend: pink was everywhere, from Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen to Jacquemus and Giorgio Armani this season.

It might be a while before weddings across the country turn into flamingo flocks of men in pink suits, but if you want to add a touch of fabric to your wardrobe: call on Ryan Reynolds to do it right.
