New independent store and event space in Chester

A BRAND new independent and sustainable pop-up shop is coming to Chester in October.

ōH was created by Openhome Design & Development and MONIKA Creative Studio and will arrive on Lower Bridge Street, with the double-fronted retail unit located in one of the city’s three-story Georgian properties. The store will include homewares, furniture, fashion and more.

Over the next 12 to 18 months, the company will begin converting the upper floors into “high quality designer apartments”.

“These will be curated examples of lifestyle and cultural living that we promote as part of the ōH ground floor retail experience,” said Tony Swindells, co-founder of Openhome and the ōH concept. .

“ōH is a pop-up lifestyle concept: a curated retail store and experience space dedicated to building a community of inspired design enthusiasts, coffee drinkers and conscious shoppers” , says Monika Swindells, Creative Director at MONIKA Studio.

The Lower Bridge Street space will also host Openhome & MONIKA’s work and creative space, as well as an exclusive space for citywide events, product launches and collaborations. All local businesses are welcome to use this fabulous new space for gatherings, celebrations, product launches or workshops. Additionally, the ōH team will also be creating their own unique event program in conjunction with local marketing and events company We Love Good Times.

Jaunty Goat Coffee is also collaborating with the lifestyle brand on this project, bringing its specialty coffee expertise as well as live barista workshops for all and sharing its sustainability story.

The in-store element will feature leading homeware designers and useful brands like Hay, Normann Copenhagen and Menu, with a unique and inspiring take on fashion.

Products will generally be a manageable size that can be picked up or taken away by local shoppers and town breakers. The range will include lighting, small furniture, tableware, ceramics, decorative objects, textiles, stationery and bathroom and kitchen accessories.

“ōH will also showcase a selection of artwork by top local artists and a choice of designer prints from The Wrong Shop. Shoppers will experience bespoke fashion brand Bepo alongside high-end and pre- This blended shopping experience, celebrating and encouraging a conscious and sustainable lifestyle is something we are passionate about,” says Monika.

“ōH isn’t aimed at a specific demographic – it’s more of an attitude. The brands we feature strive for excellence in sustainability through the materials they use or the circular approach to the product journey “, says Stephen Morris, co-founder of Open Door.

“Our store will showcase timeless, handpicked and curated selections by MONIKA Studio and unique to Chester and Cheshire. We want to bring a different perspective on design and a chance to buy real gems, without the need to travel to Manchester or London” adds Monika.

“Customers will be able to learn more about the products, chat with the designers, sip lovingly brewed coffee with lots of home and lifestyle inspiration. we want to meet our customers in person.”

ōH Store will open from the beginning of October.
