On the eighth day of FDCI India Couture Week 2022, designers Siddartha Tytler and Falguni and Shane Peacock showcased their collections
With concept sarees, high and low dresses, mermaid skirts and chainmail magic, Day 8 of FDCI India Couture Week 2022, in association with Lotus Make-up, started on a high note at Taj Palace New Delhi. Paying homage to Shan Shui, a Chinese term for the landscape art genre, designer Siddartha Tytler brought China to the fore. His show began with a Chinese lion dance, followed by the opening march by singer Guru Randhawa. Tytler’s collection ranged from separates and evening gowns to a bridal collection including intricate lehengas and sherwanis. The color palette was inspired by jewel tones and included brown, navy, olive, and charcoal. Details such as puff sleeves, long capes, feathers, leg of mutton sleeves were interspersed with stitching, sequin overlays, quilting and thick crystal embellishments in the form of patchwork, which added a visual treat . Indian looks were layered with parkas, trench coats, bomber jackets and sweaters to give the tailoring a laid-back, youthful edge. The show ended with actor Farhan Akhtar walking down the ramp donning an embroidered bandhgala.
The second half of the evening was all about love and was a celebration of French tapestries and architecture with a touch of modern Indian design. Designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock presented their collection, titled Love Forever, taking inspiration from their recent visit to London, where they received the Shiromani Award for their work and global contribution to the fashion landscape. With refined stones and pearls, the collection reflected the essence of French tapestry in a traditional Indian attire with embellished face veils as a highlight. Cropped blouses with sheer detailing, feathers and ruffles were paired with chrome appliqués and crystals, embedded into structured lehengas to add glamour. The color palette ranged from champagne ivory, pale blush and parfait pink to peppercorn, metallic stone green and metallic pewter.
