Need shopping inspiration? In Lucky 13, fashion designers share the 13 items they love so much they’d double-tap “Add to Cart.”

When the Australian interior and furniture designer Sarah Elison turns on her camera for her Lucky 13 interview, she inadvertently gives me travel style inspiration. She zooms in from a hotel room in a white t-shirt stamped with Jil Sander’s graphic logo and a pair of aviator reading glasses. It’s simple, yet put together – and, as she tells me, a window into her general design sensibilities. “If there’s one brand that explains my interior style,” she says, “it’s Jil Sander. I like something that is dramatic, but with a simplicity. It’s really sculptural minimalism, and that’s also how I design interiors.

Sculptural form and tone are just two pillars of Ellison’s interior and personal style. What turns a simple room into spaceshe explains, are the details that you absorb with all your senses. The rooms you want to stay in should have a nice lit candle, a carefully curated soundtrack, and materials you can’t help but touch – it’s all about the mood. “Essentially, I like a space that really fits into this aesthetic where it’s minimal, but there’s a sensory element to everything.” Her taste is now reaching homes through the chic 70s furniture she created for Design at your fingertipsincluding his latest creation, a deep “Floating” sofa in the “Piccolo” brown color made to measure by Pantone for the piece. Ellison steps into the power of her on-trend sofa and other minimalist items she loves now, coming soon.
